Dental Implants in Midlothian

Why Choose Dental Implants?

Dental implants offer one of the most durable and long-lasting solutions for missing teeth. We work with a team of specialists for the proper placement of your implant(s), then go above and beyond to create a beautiful, natural looking smile. This team-based approach means you receive expertise at each stage of the process. Contact our dental office in Midlothian to learn more.

Permanent option

Unlike a traditional Bridge or Denture (which sits on top of the gums), dental implants are placed directly into the jawbone. The implant fuses with the bone, creating an incredibly strong bond that often yields permanent results for tooth replacement.

How are implants made?

There are three parts of a dental implant: actual implant, the abutment, and the dental prosthesis. The implant “fixture” acts as the artificial tooth root and is typically made of titanium or zirconia. It has a cylindrical design that looks a bit like a screw. After the implant is placed, an abutment is added on top of the implant. Abutments offer a place for the third piece (crown) to be placed.

How Do Dental Implants Work?

How dental implant surgery is performed depends on the type of dental implant and the condition of your jawbone. Dental implant surgery may involve several procedures. The primary benefit of having dental implants is that it provides a solid support for your new teeth — a process that requires the bone to heal tightly around the implant. Bone healing requires time, so the process can take many weeks to months, depending on several factors.

Strong, long-lasting smile

Once your gums are healed, impressions are made of your mouth and remaining teeth. These impressions are used to make the crown (s) that are placed on the implant.   The combined skill and artistry of our team ensure that your teeth are both realistic and natural in appearance.

The Right Choice for You?

In general, dental implants may be right for you if you:

  • Have healthy oral tissues
  • Have one or more missing teeth
  • Have a jawbone that's reached full growth
  • Have adequate bone to secure the implants or you are a candidate for bone grafting
  • Don't have health conditions that could impact bone healing
  • Are unable or unwilling to wear dentures
  • Want to improve your speech
  • Are willing to commit several months to the full healing process
  • Don't smoke tobacco
